A 'CLASSIC SAVORY' TREAT

After the long weekend, it’s back to normal again. August 27 was Tuesday but we had a status meeting (normally Mondays) to start the week aligned. That day was kinda long, stretched two-day workloads to one, and me got burned out. It was about to end that way until I received a good word.

I was surprised when my boyfriend Ram told me he'll treat me to Classic Savory Chicken (CSC) after work last Aug. 28 because it’s not in our schedule for that day. As I went to their office, all I am thinking is going home. I was then so excited because it’s our first time to try the said resto. You know what makes me anticipate the treat? I watched it in QTV’s ‘Ang Pinaka’ way back and can’t remember the topic but the resto was featured.

We went to the CSC's branch in Trinoma mall. It was just kinda awkward to find the resto in lined with Meg clothing, Karimadon, Pepper and the like when all mentioned were clothing line and CSC as resto. At first, we really had the hard time finding the exact location of the resto, so we approached the roving guard of the mall.

So finally, entering the resto there was a staff approached us if we will dine in, and I said 'yes.' He called his co-staff to assist us and gave us a table good for two. As we sat, Ram and I were not comfy in sitting with only a table when we can occupy a large portion of table, so we transfer to another table good for four people.

Ordering from the menu list, I told Ram to choose chicken since it was the resto's specialty since 1950. We ordered two Combo B, worth P215 each serving:

Combo B1: chicken, salt & pepper spareribs + special turon with tropical cooler

Combo B2: chicken, sweet & sour pork + special turon with tropical cooler

We also ordered their Classic Lomi Soup (P195).

Combo B is actually a complete meal – it has meat, rice, drinks and a dessert.

First served were tropical coolers and it tasted so well. It’s like drinking four seasons with a twist of calamansi.

Second to be served was a large bowl of lomi soup. The taste of lomi was so good and it’s really tasty. It has shrimp, tenga ng daga, pork and chicken liver. It also has plenty of veggies that complemented the chicken liver. I must say, we enjoyed the lomi soup because we both love it.

Last to be served were Combos B1 and B2. When put in our table, I first handed my camera and got a snap of it. We ate it until we figured out we need another cup of rice. Not to forget, each rice costs P25.

By the way, our dinner that night was a “salubong’ for his birthday. Thanks Honey! ( '0' )/

NOT TOO LATE TO TRY THE GOODNESS OF THIS CAKE

Before buying anything special for someone, first thing I had to do is research about it. Can you imagine a person finding the 'best' cake for his/her loved one? I did!

I researched on the yummiest cakes in the Philippines and found one - Conti's Mango Bravo. I am torn whether I'll be buying MedChef's Love Me Tender or Conti's Mango Bravo, but since it needs to be cheaper yet yummy, I first chose MedChef's cake.

Finally upon deciding what to buy, I was about to order in MedChef (Mother Ignacia St.), I found out from a friend that Chef Hasset will be in Vietnam for six months and no one will bake cakes for MedChef.

So back to the second choice - Conti's Mango Bravo. It made me decide easier because I saw one article in The Philippine Star about the cake and it says "Conti's is well known for its Mango Bravo cake, baked salmon paired with paella rice, and beef salpicao." The article also said that Conti's Pastry Shop and Restaurant opened its ninth branch at Alabang, Muntinlupa City.

When Sept. 2 arrived, I bought the cake in Trinoma mall. The cake costs P635 (small), while the biggest one costs P1000+.

While waiting for my order, their big freezer caught my attention, its full of Mango Bravo biggies and small ones. I guess it’s really a hit in the bakeshop!

Believe me, the guards in MRT North Ave. (South bound) allowed me to enter the station with the cake, good thing because I will be having a hard time carrying it while riding a bus.

Enrouting home, I and my boyfriend were very, very careful carrying the cake because it's brittle, one big bump and it will be broken to messy pieces inside the box. We are just so lucky because we got the 1hr ride going home to about 45 minutes only, and the Conti's Mango Bravo cake will only last for 2hrs upon removing from the freezer. The girl in the counter before leaving the store told me to keep it frozen.

As stated in its website www.contis.ph/fabulous-cakes.html, the cake is made up of layers of crunchy wafers filled with chocolate moose, cream and mango cubes - so if not put in the freezer after removing after 2hrs, it will melt.

By the way, forgot to capture the actual size of the cake and its inside, as we were excited to eat the cake and also had a problem on how to cut it perfectly, so I just posted photos from the Internet and see what it looked like. Credits to the owner of the photo! Enjoy! :-)

HER CINDERELLA STORY

If you were a make-up addict, you will love this girl.

She used to record and edit her own make-up tutorial, done it in a day for everybody’s consumption while doing it just for leisure… until a make-up company has seen her potentials and sponsored some of her videos.

She first uses her own collection of make-up: from eyeliners, lipsticks, foundations, concealers to eyeshadows. As she uploaded her videos on Youtube, www.youtube.com/user/MichellePhan, she has helped a lot of girls in the world (including me) while receiving mega hits to her Youtube videos.

She has been one of the “most visited” site on Youtube, alongside Justin Bieber.

Now, she’s currently working in Lancome Cosmetics as a make-up artist.

Oh! I forgot to tell who she is…

She is Michelle Phan.

Wako Wako visits ABS-CBN employees

Last Thursday, Wako Wako himself made ABS-CBN employees delight as he visited different divisions inside ABS-CBN Compound.

Started 12 nn., Wako Wako first appeared in DZMM TeleRadyo. As the radio guesting has ended, he then directed to ABS-CBN Newsroom where he was pulled to appear in ANC’s Dateline Philippines LIVE!

As we were waiting for Wako Wako’s arrival at 9th floor of ELJ Bldg., I saw a clip from his guesting in Dateline Philippines and shown it to other employees, including of Legal Department.

We were shocked at Wako Wako’s mascot version because he is small but has a big head. But when he’s at our office, he's so cute!

At first, I wanted to have a photo with Wako Wako, but I gave the chance to the kids whose waiting for him since morning. But thank God I had one!

Here’s our photo with Wako Wako.

Subject in College that doesn't matter, matters

There was a subject in College that I use to hate – buying a specific newspaper’s weekly copies, read all its sections and ANALYZE!

It was really, really boring, though. I have with me groupmates that doesn’t exist, and me doing the group work alone.

Never thought this school project is really a job! Yes, it’s a job! You will be paid monthly for rendering a job like this, which is to summarize and analyze what newspaper writers/columnists say about a thing,  a person, a network, etc.

College days.

Editorial and Column writing. It was one of our major subjects in College that help Journalism students (like me) to translate thoughts into a column.

In this matter, we are tasked to do editorial writing about a specific topic and analyze it through looking into our own ideas. Every Wednesday, if I can still remember, upon our professor’s arrival, we will pass on our paperworks. Each one of us will be relieved when we passed it.

Media Literacy and Studies. From column writing to case study thingy. This subject taught me how to critic a movie. I was the one who bought a laptop and speakers for a class to watch a movie (forgot the title). But it was about a doctor who chooses to be “Doctor to the Barrio.”

Enough.

My point is, by having those subjects in College, I am unaware that I have a glimpse of what a Media Monitoring Assistant is doing– and now it is my job!
