Mourn for baby Brianna Lopez

Why are these kinds of people living in Earth? Can they be bestowed to different planets where aliens and other creatures will be their source of piffling happiness?

PERUSE: Let justice punish them with their persecution to an innocent baby.

One Friday night (August 14, 2009) while making a reviewer for midterm exams, my sister Luisa asked if I already watched the video about a five-month old baby girl. I have learned from her the murder of Brianne Lopez, a Mexican baby girl battered and raped by his father and uncle. With bewilderment, I search the net and watched the video on youtube: remembering Brianna Lopez. I felt sorry for the baby.

Baby Brianna’s parents and uncle were drinking one night. Her mother slept for she was drunk. The two, father and uncle played the baby. From interrogating the uncle, he admitted of throwing the baby but forgot to catch right away. The father also admits of biting her daughter hardly when he was very mad at it.

How can they do this kind of thing on a five-month old baby?

An investigation proved that the two raped the baby. The proof: blood marks on their briefs. The blood was from baby’s vagina.

The two will remember with their egregiousness.

Going back to what I’m doing, I can’t concentrate. Truly! I can’t resist the feeling of sorrow, to mourn for baby Brianna.

Stop child abuse! Let them live as normal. Let us not steal the childhood that they deserve. If Michael Jackson is still alive, for sure he will he will grief for the baby’s cruel death and also help on the case of the baby.

Baby Brianna now lives in Heaven with her real father. She will live with an everlasting happiness. She will not be harmed nor battered by anyone, only the most gracious embrace, care and love for our Father God.

“The root and his crop”

For the subject Sports Journalism

The former Ateneo Blue Eagle basketball player Japeth Aguilar steps up higher as he engraved his name in Philippine basketball, resembling his father’s race.

The 6’9” Filipino home grown Japeth
marked as he had the first stride to the National Basketball Association (NBA) when he played in the US National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) for the Western Kentucky Hill toppers. Also he played n the Sun Belt Conference. He was part of the Hill toppers when they won the Sun Belt Conference East Division title for the first time since the 2002-2003 seasons.

At the age of 20, he has moved toward this huge. In this year’s PBA Rookie Draft, the Burger King Whoppers made him he first over-all pick. It was predicted earlier before the draft happened.

Japeth Aguilar, as assumed by many, had spread his popularity over the world, invading the United States for his slum dunk action at the age of 13 with a huge crowd.

Now, as we are watching him thru television playing for the Philippines’ pride, we only sees the determination this man has, the power to build one’s dream to be in the NBA, every man’s dream.

Japeth’s root, is father himself, Peter Aguilar.

His father also played in PBA for five different teams: Anejo, Alaska, Seven-up, Sta Lucia Realtors and Shell.

As this moment, the crop, Japeth, cross his own road, for the reason of overshadowed with his father. A journey to stardom, as what it seemed but he only tries to step forward for his own sense of name.

President Corazon “Cory” Aquino’s celebrated farewell

For the subject Writing for Radio and Television

From Tita Cory’s (as what his supporters called her) death, chapter of our lives reopened.

All of us knew that she was the widowed wife of the late Ninoy Aquino, and mother of Sen. Noynoy Aquino and showbiz celebrity Kris Aquino. What else? She was the instrument on obtaining our freedom and sovereignty for Pres. Ferdinand Marcos, the first female president in the Philippines and of Asia, who gave birth to democracy. But then, every day, unfolding memories for Tita Cory are waxing.

Even wee situation has been said.

The television stations in the country made documentaries and special coverage of her.

“The Filipinos are worth it”, said Kris Aquino on a nicrological service done at the Manila Cathedral were the remains of the late Pres. Cory was at hand.

Tita Cory’s death made history as people marked their way no not leaving her niche until her last farewell.

The burial was peaceful as the history repeats itself for the march to Edsa People Power I, nothing is harmed. She is our strength and source of peace.

I may not be personally sees Cory for the last time but I gave tribute by watching the GMA news special coverage, “Salamat Cory”.

Different ambassadors came to give honor for our very own Pres. Cory for her contribution to world peace.

I will not heard anymore the interlude of Tita Cory in her speeches, “Mga minamahal kong kababayan”.

Marching to Edsa for North Greenhills, I have been part of the people Power III. Tita Cory was there on stage, giving her speech. She has been very supportive to democratic country. That moment is the fist time I saw her with my blurry eyes, but sees the yellow dress she wore that very day.

The people has peaceably assembles outside the Manila Cathedral not for the call for people power against dictator, but for their last see on Tita Cory.

Most of them wore yellow, some were clack. Last Wednesday, I wore black in mourned for Tita Cory’s death.

The mourners never mined the rain-shine weather, for as long as they are endured with the situation and of the pain of the long stand. They will stay for Tita Cory.

Different places have kept for Tita Cory’s last look: La Salle Greenhills Gymnasium, Edsa, Makati City and Manila Cathedral.

Kris said, it is their mother who wanted a private funeral but then refuses because they wanted people’s funeral for the love of their mother. “If the Filipinos really love my mom, they are the ones to be on people’s funeral rather that a state funeral”, she added.

Ballsy, Tita Cory’s oldest daughter courageously tells her mom to rest for righting the cancer for almost 16 months.

Tita Cory, in her real essence, is the simple mother of her children and of the wife of Ninoy Aquino who paid tribute to the transformation of Dictatorship to a Democratic form of government. Cheers!

“Whoever controls the media controls the mind”

For the subject Writing for Radio and Television

Controlling the minds of the people? Unattainable as it may seem. Somehow it can be manipulated through the use of media as hypnotic means.

Watching television at least five hours could make you feel asking for more, approximately an eight-hour in front of the television felt an exhausted mind and of the body.

The media, pertaining to television, radio and internet, feeds in information to us whether we like it or not. The information has being given to us conversationally. Turning on the television or radio, the messages are being disseminated in an instant, making us responsive of what the media is trying to persuade. By then, we give a feed forward reaction from the feed in of information.

As to media’s responsibility in every country by means of politics: dissemination of information, creating public opinion, reflects public’s opinion and the watchdog of the government. The media’s disseminated information kept the readers/audiences form formulating opinions and thought, through the media; they also are our watchdog in which we are informed on what is happening in our country.

The role of media in economics simplifies on the popular culture wherein through advertisements, the people are being informed on the things which are “in” nowadays. They are persuaded to buy the product form the feed in information of the media.

As media’s social role, they are in truth entertaining and building the nation. Yes they are.

The popularity of Original Pilipino Music (OPM) can be cited, it is known because the media introduces it to us. Form the playing of songs, up to the extent on how specific bands/artists started in the music scene.

Through media on popular culture, we are being controlled, specifically our mindsets. It says “if you will purchase this product, you will be 10 times richer than him”. Same thing as eating in a renowned restaurant or bar, hanging out there makes you feel better because of the norms of socialization. Who told us that? The answer: the media itself.

But the media has its own extent as to what information they can bestow to us. They have rules, regulations and anti-obscenity law that will look after the eyes of children. Even children’s access on television is much easier.

Evidently, information is free and that the media has the right to freedom of expression form Bill of Rights Article III, Section IV.

The law states that, “No law shall be passed abridging the freedom of speech, of expression, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble and petition the government for redress of grievances.”

The media have power over the minds of children. When a two-year old child learns to watch television show, for example Mickey Mouse Club House on Disney Channel, they are being controlled by the power of songs; they are playing it repeatedly for children to learn by heart. The song in Mickey Mouse lyrics: M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E (2x), It’s the Mickey Mouse Club House, come inside its fun inside (2x).

The media reins the mind of teens and adults. Watching a telenovela made them felt what the protagonist feels. Sometimes, they are putting their selves into the situations, with the compassion of what happened. They tend to cry, laugh and the like.

I myself have being won over by the media. The media controls my mindset. We are all controlled by media; they have the power to do so. It’s up to us how we are going to respond. Listening to RX 93.1 radio station with the News at Seventeen, by what they have told the listeners makes an immediate response to that, resembling what I have experience. My thoughts juggled if that information is true, if Britney Spears married and make a divorce with his man in the same day.

Edsa People Power III, I have been part of the said event, why? I have been persuaded by what I have seen on television screen, seeing a lot of people clamors for Ousting PGMA.

I may not be controlled a hundred percent by the media, but it sounds as if hypnotize me. In every walk of life, they are the source of information on a daily basis.

Who can enlighten the media didn’t control his mind? Even the president in a country has been controlled in decision-making. By watching television or listening to radio, he can formulate decisions form that information as to whether that country uses this tool for innovation and progression of his country.

Indeed, whoever controls the media controls the mind.
